About Sue - Founder of Lavender Blue
I got interested in Shiatsu an oriental therapy (in Japanese it translates as finger-pressure) when I had a few sessions done by a 3rd year student who seemed to give me that 'Great to be Alive Feeling'. So that was it. I had to find out more and studied this course for the next few years in Nottingham with the British School of Shiatsu. There's a lot to this fascinating subject and after people have studied this for 20 years - say they are still scratching the surface. Some describe Shiatsu as 'Acupuncture without needles' and some say it is like Chinese physiotherapy. But what I have found it changes peoples lives for the better. It can make peoples back and necks feel so much freer and generally people have a better quality of life.
Whilst studying Shiatsu I did another course in Seated Acupressure as it was related. During this course I had to get a 100 clients and I had only 2 months to do it in. So I contacted the libraries in Warwickshire who were really helpful. After covering 3 sites the head librarian informed the local papers of what I was doing and as a result West Midlands TV crew got to hear about it. The resulting film was so funny. The crew put the camera between the bookshelves peeping at what I was doing to a member of the public. Meanwhile they had persuaded one of the librarians to stand behind the camera to make all these sounds of bliss and groans of pleasure. Well after that I got more than a hundred. The queue went out the library door on the next session.
Aromatherapy was my first introduction to alternative medicine and I found it amazing. The power of the oils is so strong and versatile. Some of the oils give the most tranquil, happy feeling and they are not addictive. It is also great for muscular aches and pains and loads more ailments. I have some personal experience of some very positive results.
